What is Lettrio?
Lettrio is a timed word game for iPhone and Android. You link neighbouring letters on a grid to spell words before the clock runs out: every word you find drops in fresh letters and buys you a few more seconds. It is free to download, needs no sign-up, works offline, and is available in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Arabic.
Lettrio in numbers
- Lettrio was released on the App Store on 16 June 2026; it is built by one person, in France.
- The grid is 6 rows × 5 columns, 30 tiles, and refills after every accepted word.
- A round starts with 60 seconds; every word longer than 3 letters gives back (length − 3) seconds: +2 s for 5 letters, +5 s for 8 letters.
- A 4-letter word is worth 160 points, and each extra letter doubles the word’s value: 320, 640, 1,280, 2,560.
- Six languages, each with its own dictionary and weekly leaderboard; no account, playable offline.
- The daily challenge (same grid for everyone, 3 tries of 60 s) has been playable in the browser since 17 July 2026.
- Lettrio is unrelated to “Lettrio : enfin un jeu de lettres” (Karipi, 2021, discontinued), lettrio.app or lettrio.fr.

Lettrio is free to download, with no account needed. The first games are open; after that, play is limited to a few games a day, and unlimited play unlocks by giving your feedback, inviting a friend or making a purchase. The game works offline; only the online leaderboard needs a connection.
Which languages can you play Lettrio in?
Lettrio is playable in six languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Arabic. Each language has its own dictionary and its own leaderboard.
How is the score calculated?
Long words are worth far more: every extra letter doubles the word’s points, so a 6-letter word scores four times a 4-letter word.
Is there a leaderboard?
Yes. Lettrio has an online leaderboard for each language, reset every week, so you can beat your own record and compare yourself with other players.
How is Lettrio different from Boggle, Scrabble or Wordle?
Like Boggle, you link neighbouring letters on a grid. The difference: the grid refills after every word and time is the real resource, since each word gives some back. It is not turn-based like Scrabble, nor a single daily word to guess like Wordle.
