A Squaredle alternative with unlimited grids and a clock

Squaredle players tend to say the same thing: two grids a day is not enough, and they would rather not subscribe for more. Lettrio is built for that itch. It keeps the swipe-to-link grid and the daily ritual, and adds the two things Squaredle holds back: unlimited rounds, and a clock.

Same gesture, different goal

In Squaredle, a grid is a checklist: the words are known in advance and you find them all. In Lettrio there is no list. Every accepted word removes its letters and drops new ones, so the set of possible words changes with every move. Two players on the same daily grid end up with different words and different scores; the leaderboard compares scores and never reveals anyone’s words.

The clock changes how you read a grid. A round starts at 60 seconds; a 5-letter word gives 2 seconds back, an 8-letter word gives 5. Scoring doubles with each letter (160 points for 4 letters, 2,560 for 8), so the question is never “is there a word here?” but “is there a long one, fast?”.

What you keep from Squaredle

The daily ritual: one shared grid a day, published at 2 am, with a leaderboard of the day. The share without spoilers: you can send your score or “beat my 8-letter word” to a friend, never the words themselves. And the browser: the daily challenge needs no app and no account.

What you give up

The completeness. There is no “33/33 words” in Lettrio, no bonus-word hunt, no streak of fully solved grids. If what you love in Squaredle is finishing a puzzle, Lettrio will feel restless. If what you love is the grid itself, it is the same grid, only alive.
